Retirement Tax Editorial and Verification Policy

Checked against sources How we verify

Primary rules lead the calculation

Retirement tax content is checked against the relevant enacted statute, regulation, agency instructions, official rate or estimate chart and published revenue guidance. A general summary is useful for locating the rule but does not override a current statute. A publication revised this year may still describe the preceding tax year. We read the effective-year statement and distinguish estimated-payment methods from final-return schedules before placing a number in a model.

Eligibility deserves the same scrutiny as a rate

The review checks what income enters the starting base, which plan qualifies, who owns the payment and whether age, birth cohort, disability, survivor or residence conditions apply. We distinguish gross Social Security from federally included benefits and pension deductions from tax credits. A calculator that multiplies a top rate by all retirement receipts misses those conditions. A recent source-download date alone does not establish the correctness of every numeric step.

Automation and source review

Software and AI-assisted tools help locate sources, draft explanations, implement formulas and run regression checks. Their output is reviewed against the underlying authority and separate arithmetic examples. Neither an AI answer nor a passing test is treated as evidence that a rule exists. We disclose limits where a current annual figure cannot be confirmed or where the form asks the visitor for an approved return component. We do not invent a person, credential, testimonial or agency endorsement to make automated work appear professionally certified.

When review happens

Substantive changes receive a visible updated/verified date and corresponding sitemap date. A rebuild that changes no content does not justify a new date. Annual publications, effective statutory changes and reproducible corrections trigger another review. Rules tied to a year have a separate later-year path rather than silently rolling into a new period. This policy does not promise that every agency notice is detected the moment it is published.

Corrections are evidence requests

A correction should identify the jurisdiction, tax year, public source, input facts and disputed result. We reproduce the supported case, compare the source wording and check whether the report concerns a missing category rather than a wrong arithmetic step. Accepted changes should update the explanation and relevant example tests before publication. A successfully stored report acknowledges receipt only; it does not approve the submitter’s proposed interpretation or suspend any filing obligation.

No ranking or financial promise

We use aggregate search data to make headings and explanations easier to find, but search demand does not decide a tax rule. Publication, sitemap registration and similarity checks cannot guarantee that Google indexes a page or that a visitor obtains a particular financial result. The source register, methodology and corrections channel allow readers to inspect the actual boundaries of the work.
